TESTIMONIALS ON TAMIL HUMANISM

‘Today we live in an uncertain, complex and difficult world.

It is a world that almost on a daily basis places us in situations where we have to exercise our minds over decisions that affect our lives. In a world where many swirling currents flow, perhaps the central question that confronts us is: How do we lead our lives in ways that do no harm, yet contribute to making our world a better place.

The need for ethical guide posts in an ever changing and complex world could not be clearer.

Reaching deep into Indian history and philosophy, T-M brings alive the powerful words of the great Indian sage Thiruvalluvar who writing almost two and half thousand years ago provides us with one of the most powerful ethical treatise. In the Thirukkural, this philosopher has left us a set of guidelines to assist us understand and engage with the many complex and challenging ethical questions of the 21st century.

Presented in a very readable form, there is no doubt that the relevance and usefulness of the writings of Thiruvalluvar will help us negotiate our way in these challenging times.

This is what I have been waiting for. A progressive dictat for Tamils in South Africa to accept and embrace change for the perpetuation of Tamil Humanism within the South African demographic community. Doing so will auger well for our future generations and their coexistence within the broader South African community. It will further enhance the mutual respect and understanding of different cultures within the country which would undoubtedly contribute to greater peace and harmony.
