The practice of the teachings of Tamil Humanism to ensure personal, family, community and environmental development

Mission Statement

The purpose is to restore the humanity in the culturally, socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society by promoting the humanist principles. This is achieved by:

  • Promoting Tamil Humanism
  • Distributing Tamil Humanist books
  • Preserving humanist heritage sites

 

Outcomes

  1. Awareness of Tamil Humanism.
  2. The practice of the culture of the Eight Divine Virtues of love, peace, truth, right conduct, non-violence, human values, human rights and nature rights.
  3. A physical, social, emotional and spiritual environment that fosters a community spirit in which people live happy and fulfilling lives.
  4. Preserve humanist heritage sites.

If you want to get more involved in the efforts to promote Tamil Humanism, here are some ways to get you started:

  1. Educate yourself: Learn more about Tamil Humanism. Read the books. Like our Facebook page. Check out our website www.tamilhumanism.com.
  2. Share what you learn. Speak to your friends, family and colleagues at work. Use your watsapp, Facebook, twitter, Facebook page, website or blogspot to spreading the awareness of Tamil Humanism.
  3. Further awareness: Invite a Tamil Humanist volunteer to come talk to your book club, business group, ladies tea club, social club or any other organization you belong to. You may talk to them yourself once you learnt enough about Tamil humanism.
  4. Get involved: Form a local support group in your area. Contact us to find out how to be actively involved.
  5. Host an event: You can have as much fun with hosting an event as you want to by hosting tea parties, coffee shop evenings, cultural music nights, and so much more your imagination allows. Find out your talents and interest and use them to create awareness of Tamil Humanism,
  6. Be a conscientious consumer: Buy products from companies that support Tamil humanism. See the list of businesses that support Tamil Humanism:
  7. Support any project that works to uplift the most vulnerable in our society. You may want to teach your support groups in your area valuable skills and information.

 

GET INVOLVED

If you have specific skills or services to volunteer please let us know via email. If you are a group, company or organization who wishes to sponsor books please contact us on thiru@tamilhumanism.com

Your company or organization can sponsor your employees to attend the Life coaching program. The money raised from these sponsorship will be used for the printing of books. In this way your company will benefit as well as the money raised will print and distribute books which will further benefit the community. Employees will be transformed to working harder and being more dedicated and committed to the employer. It’s a win-win situation.

Reading the word, reading the world Project

Are you a student at a university and are committed to making your life better then this project is for you. To develop your entrepreneur skills and enrich your learning’s you need to share that knowledge with others. By doing so that knowledge becomes a part of you, giving you a better quality of life. This is a 12 months project when you volunteer to be a part of it. It requires commitment of simply doing this in a routine way.

This is a university students volunteer program. To be eligible to take part in this project you must be a registered student at any university. You must also have the commitment to want a better life for yourself first. You should also have the love for reading books and understanding its meaning. Reading the word means reading books and reading the world means understanding the world by the words you read.

A better quality of life can only be experience through knowledge and understanding and practicing that knowledge. The quickest way to gain knowledge is through sharing that knowledge to others by reading.

This project requires you to have commitment to a routine, dedication of your time and the ability to work in the project without you being supervised and controlled. You are a leader and by taking part in this project you will experience a better quality life and you will benefit others.

You need to do the following:

  1. Register your participation in the Reading the word, reading the world Project.
  2. Visit a school near you and select 6 scholars who want to join your reading circle for a period of 12 months. Parents and Principle’s consent is essential. The scholar must wish to learn more and desire a better quality of life. They must make a commitment for 12 months to the project.
  3. Schedule 1 meeting per week of 1 hour for 12 months.
  4. Schedule a topic for each meeting for the period of 12 months. There will be 48 different topics that can be covered.
  5. Find books that deal with those topics. A local library will be of assistance.
  6. Read essential parts of the book for 30 minutes.
  7. Give the scholars your understanding of the words read for 15 minutes.
  8. Each of the 6 scholars will have a turn to give their understanding and interpretations of the words read for 15 minutes.
  9. Close the meeting and ensure that the scholars have reached home safely.
  10. Email us on how this volunteer project impacted your life and that of the scholars. Give feedback to our website on the impact this project had on your life.
  11. Each year you can register with the Project again with a new set of scholars.

Level 1

 

  1. Schedule 30 minutes a week for reading.
  2. Select 21 topics
  3. Select 21 books to read
  4. Select 21 you tube videos on the same topic
  5. Select 6 Facebook friends
  6. Notify friends on the time of reading and topic
  7. Read for 5 minutes on a selected topic
  8. Watch a video for 5 minutes on the selected topic
  9. Give your input on Facebook to your friends. Typing your feedback should be maximum for 5 minutes.
  10. Get friends input and discussion for 15 minutes
  11. Close meeting.

 

Level 2

 

  1. Schedule 1 hour a week for reading.
  2. Select 48 topics
  3. Select 48 books to read
  4. Select 48 you tube videos on the same topic
  5. Select 6 Facebook friends
  6. Notify friends on the time of reading and topic
  7. Read for 15 minutes on a selected topic
  8. Watch a video for 15 minutes on the selected topic
  9. Give your input on Facebook to your friends. Typing your feedback should be maximum for 10 minutes.
  10. Get friends input and discussion for 20 minutes
  11. Close meeting.

 

ONE RACE, MANY GENES CAMPAIGN

Recent incidents and events in communities show that racism, tribalism, nationalism, cultural and religious conflict is on the rise and is becoming part of the general mindset of people.

Therefore we need to initiate the One Race, Many Genes Campaign. The human identity needs to be promoted. There is only one human race. Many genes showing diversity may exist such as some people may be light skin color or dark skin color, black or blonde hair, black, brown, blue or green eyes, thin or fat, tall or short, long nose or broad round nose. Many languages are spoken, many religions and beliefs are followed but they all are human.

Many genes there are but they are all human. This is the mindset that the One Race, Many Genes Campaign promotes. Identify yourself as Human and not the gene type. This is the only solution for citizen building and national and international unity. The campaign is to urge people to join by making a conscious choice of their human identity.

Demographic information requirements of race should give people the opportunity to adopt the universal human identity.

Under the question of race, the category ‘HUMAN’ is given amongst other alternatives such as African, White, Coloured, Indian, Black etc

Under the question of religion, the category ‘HUMANIST’ is given amongst other alternatives such as Christianity, Islam, Hindu, Buddhist etc.

Under the question of sex, the category ‘INTERSEX’ is given amongst the alternatives of Male or Female. This restores the dignity of those who are biologically neither male nor female.

Identifying with skin color or geographic origin need to be dropped. This restores the dignity of being human when we claim ‘Human’ as our identity. You have a choice. Be part of the Human Revolution.

ACTIVE CITIZENS WITHOUT BORDERS

The main aim of Active Citizens without borders is to promote participation in every dimension of our culture, economics, political system and decision-making processesfrom the local to the international level. It promotes the full empowerment of citizens with respect to the totality of society’s activities.

Active citizens participate in the achievement of the goals of their personal life; they participate in the achievement of the goals of their family and the objectives of their community and civil society, and they participate in promoting the public good of the national state and the global state.

Active citizens of wealthy countries may promote the basic services for poor citizens in disadvantages countries, hence creating a humanist global state without restrictive borders. Active citizens without borders are promoting human rights in action for fellow human beings irrespective of the countryby the civil society without depending on governments to provide basic services. The basic services are water, sanitation, electricity, refuse removal, health services, schools, housing, food and clothing.
